The Samsung Family Hub is a Smart Refrigerator with 3 doors and 24 cu. ft. capacity – and it blew our minds! When this amazing appliance was first introduced to the public two years ago, it came with a $6,000 price tag – ouch. Lately, we’ve seen it retailing for about $2,500 – $3,500, a much more reasonable price for such an awesome fridge.
First off, it’s great looking – it comes in stainless steel and black stainless steel in the 3 door model, and if you are cool with doubling the price, you can also get a 4 door 28 cu. ft. model.
The touch screen is bright and vivid, and feels very responsive, compared to other models. It also has finger-print proof coating to help it stay clean and tidy. The apps provided with the fridge are definitely family-oriented (hence the name of the fridge –Samsung Family Hub). These include a calendar, notepad, and photos. You can share these from your smart phone or directly on the touchscreen. No more need for tons of magnets posting up everyone’s schedules and notes!
Aside from the ways we have always been accustomed to using fridges – as communication hubs for the household – there are tons of other amazing features that make the fridge even more relevant.
For example, the touchscreen allows you to view the inside of the fridge to keep track of what you have, and even set countdown labels over individual items. This is super handy for keeping track of expiration dates and how much you have left of certain items to make your grocery shopping easier. If you forget to do this before you leave the house, don’t worry – you can pull up the image of the inside of your fridge from your smart phone with the Samsung Family Hub app.
The touchscreen does simple things like show you the time, date, and weather, but also serves as an entertainment hub. You can stream videos and watch your Samsung TV right on the fridge! Like to hear music while you cook? The touchscreen comes with Pandora, Spotify, and Tune-In Radio, giving you tons of options to keep you moving and grooving.
In addition to the smart home features, this fridge actually performs great too. Temperatures are consistent throughout, including inside the drawers. The FlexZone feature allows you to set temperatures for various food items such as meat and produce, and the fridge maintains the temps accurately. A Cool Select pantry lets you store fruit and cheese trays at their optimal temps as well. Easily adjustable shelving allows you to make the Samsung Family Hub work for your everyday cold storage needs.
This is a luxury appliance that is definitely worth having in your smart home. Truly, we’ve seen other high-end fridges on the market for around the same price without all of the smart home features. We love it!
