Our third smart plug review features the TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug Mini. We love the compact design of the Mini, though note that it comes in at the same price as the original TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug – $25. As the original, it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
The TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug Mini allows you to turn on lights, coffeemakers, speakers or any other appliance in your home. This is definitely our pick over the TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug because it is way more outlet-friendly. Its size allows you to plug two smart plugs into one standard-sized outlet, where larger designs would take up the entire outlet with one plug. Smart plugs are great for people who want to automate their homes without messing with their home’s existing electrical work – making them great options for renters as well.
Using the Kasa app, you can remotely access any appliances connected to your TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug Mini. It comes with a two year warranty so you can be confident in its long-term functionality. We covered the apps functioning in our previous post for the TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug, and you can check that out here.
When you purchase your TP-Link Smart Wifi Plug Mini, it will come with the plug and a very basic user guide. If we had one complaint about the design as compared to other smart plugs such as the Belkin Wemo Mini, it’s the fact that the on/off is on the side rather than the front, which might be harder to access.
Apart from that, this smart plug has all of the great features of the original TP-Link smart plug with the benefit of a smaller design that can be used throughout your home. If you would like some additional ideas on how to use smart plugs in your home, check out Smart Plugs 101!
